About
Who We Are
Mission of Mercy India is a charitable organisation committed to supporting children and communities through locally rooted, child-focused programmes.
We believe meaningful and lasting change begins by recognising the dignity, strengths, and potential of every child.
Our work is carried out in partnership with local leaders and organisations who understand their communities, value local knowledge, and share a long-term commitment to the wellbeing and development of children.

Our Vision
A future in which every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, belong and reach their full potential.
Our Mission
To work alongside communities and programme partners to support children’s access to education, care, protection, life skills, and opportunities for holistic development.
Our Approach
We do not define children by the challenges they face. We recognise their strengths, abilities, and potential.
Our role is to help strengthen the environments around children so they can continue their education, grow in confidence, feel safe and supported, and participate more fully in the life of their communities.

Key Areas of Support

Education
We support children’s participation in education through learning materials, tutoring, reading activities, academic support, and assistance with school-related needs.
Health and Wellbeing
Programmes may include health and hygiene awareness, nutrition support, medical referrals, and activities that encourage healthy habits and overall wellbeing.
Child Protection
We work to promote safe and supportive environments where children are respected, heard, and protected. Staff and programme partners receive guidance on child safeguarding, appropriate conduct, and responding responsibly to concerns.
Life Skills, Talents and Leadership
Children are encouraged to take part in activities such as sports, art, music, cultural programmes, and other creative opportunities that help build confidence, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, and positive relationships while allowing them to explore and develop their individual talents.
India’s diversity means that the needs, opportunities, and circumstances of children can vary significantly across regions and communities.
Our programmes are therefore developed and carried out in partnership with local organisations and leaders who understand the language, culture, strengths, and challenges of the communities they serve.
Mission of Mercy India currently supports child-focused programmes across four broad regions of the country:
North India
Programmes serve children and communities in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and surrounding areas.
East India
Our eastern programmes include communities in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, and neighbouring areas.
West India
We support programme initiatives serving children and communities in Maharashtra and surrounding areas.
South India
Our southern partnerships include programmes in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and neighbouring areas.

Where We Work
Locally Rooted, Regionally Connected
Our Programme Network
-
19 Child Development Centres.
-
Approximately 2,168 children directly supported.
-
17 additional partner centres receiving training, programme guidance and capacity-building support.
Each location has its own story. Our programmes are adapted to local priorities rather than applying one identical model everywhere.
What Happens in a Centre?
-
Each centre responds to its local context, but a typical programme may include:
• After-school learning support
• Reading and educational activities
• Life-skills and leadership sessions
• Sports, games, music and creative activities
• Health and hygiene awareness
• Child protection education
• Parent and caregiver engagement
• Celebrations, camps and community events
• Individual encouragement and follow-up
A centre is not simply a place where activities are conducted. It is a community where children can feel known, supported and encouraged.

For many children, the centre becomes more than a place for learning. It is a space where they can build friendships, connect with trusted adults, receive encouragement, and participate with confidence—recognised for their strengths and potential rather than defined by the challenges they face.
